Meet Dr. Megan Bowers MD, PhD
“I treat children, teens and adults, and specialize in integrative psychiatry, early childhood mental health and the diagnosis and treatment of neurodevelopmental disorders. Other areas of focus include stress and anxiety-related disorders, depression, trauma-related disorders and mood disorders. "
Dr. Bowers is dual ABPN Board Certified in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Adult Psychiatry, and specializes in integrative psychiatry, early childhood mental health and neurodevelopmental disorders. She earned a PhD in Developmental Genetics and completed a postdoctoral research fellowship in Neurobiology (Metabolism, Genetics, and Neural Development). Mind-body interventional training has included yoga and yoga therapy, mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) and clinical hypnosis.
Medical and graduate school were completed at NYU School of Medicine in 2011, followed by a postdoctoral research fellowship at the University of Zurich, Switzerland, completed in 2018. Adult Psychiatry residency and a Child and Adolescent Psychiatry fellowship were completed at Georgetown University Hospital in 2021 and 2022, respectively.
Dr. Bowers has published multiple original research articles in peer-reviewed journals in the fields of Medical Genetics, Developmental Genetics, and Neurobiology. She was a LEND (Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities) Fellow at Children's National Medical Center during her child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship. As an undergraduate at UC San Diego, she was a Beckman Research Scholar, a Barry Goldwater Research Scholar and a Cal-IT2 Research Scholar.
